T is for TEACHERS!

The letter T is a hard worker.  It serves so many words, and has rhyming siblings, like tee and tea.   Along with the letter R, it's one of my favorite letters.  In fact, my favorite 'T' word starts with T and ends with R:  TEACHER.

We are a family of teachers.  My mom was an English teacher.  My sister is a special ed. teacher.  I taught character education to high school students.  My niece teaches English at the college level.  A nephew teaches in conjunction with earning his PhD.  My cousin taught math for 25 years.

Our daughter, my favorite teacher, teaches chemistry.  She has also taught theology, physics, and forensics. (Just don't ask her to crochet you a SOCK.)

Our daughter, the teacher

We are a family of teachers.  Our daughter remarked recently, "That's why our family never has any any money."

I can't argue that.  But, hey, we're impacting young minds and hoping to make a difference in the world.  At least, that's what we feel in our hearts.  For most teachers, that passion somewhat boosts the lowly paycheck.

As for the Kobe Bryants and the LeBron James', who make millions for bouncing a ball - lest we forget - someone taught them how to play.

I'm always of the opinion that teachers are underpaid and professional athletes are overpaid. Teaching is such an honorable hard profession and I admire those than can teach and teach well!

We too have lots of teachers in our family. I'm so proud of them. What would we do without Teachers.

Two of my three daughters are teachers as well. One teaches in public school and one used to teach in public school but now homeschools. Yes, they are underpaid and overworked! But the reward for them is so much more than the money. (though my youngest school teacher daughter will say, "I am never going to have things on this salary)To be a teacher all I can say is one has gotta love what they do! Great post. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

I have homeschooled off and on for the last three years. Quite frankly, sending my 13-yr-old back to school was the best thing I've done in awhile. He loves his teachers and they put up with him. God bless them all!

Marianne,

My husband is a primary school teacher, and my eldest son has almost completed his Masters of Teaching (primary) so he'll soon be a teacher as well. I have homeschooled all my children but I am very aware that not all parents can do this. Good teachers are so important and really do make a difference to children's lives. I love your T word!

That's pretty amazing... a family of teachers. Good for you all! May you be blessed with a fulfilled retirement, when it comes time for that.

Sorry it took me so long to come by, but I've liked your FB page too. Writer’s Mark

Teachers are usually great and do a wonderful job but there are some bad apples amongst the lot, I have met some teachers I just didn't like and who I felt didn't get my child.
