D is for (no more) Donuts

The first year I participated in the A-Z Challenge, my D post was about donuts. And how Krispy Kremes are the best.

This year, my post is about how donuts are no longer on my diet.  Sniff.  I miss them so.

However, turns out sugar is bad for me, and I think sugar is the first ingredient in Krispy Kremes, so I've had to part ways with those scrumptious rings of fried dough.  It's really hard to roll on past our local Krispy Kreme donut shop when that "hot and now" sign is on, but I have to be a grown up now, and grown ups have self-discipline.  Some of them, anyway.  I'm working on it.

So, here's the good news - there are now more donuts for the rest of you, because I'm taking myself out of the mix.  I'll be over at Whole Foods having some quinoa.  Sniff.

No more donuts for me either! I've cut out sugar, wheat and diary. Sometimes it's very hard, but I don't crave sugar as much anymore.

I don't like donuts. I know that doesn't help you feel better, but I thought I'd share.

I've made some delicious cakes with pureed prunes - I think they completely replaced sugar - would that be suitable for you, or is that still too much sugar?

I understand your pain. I'm giving up sweet tea. It is very sad.

I like quinoa,
I have not had donuts in years. I do have a recipe using GF all-purpose flour for yeast donuts and I will try them. I intend to try cake donuts too. Lots of people bake gluten free donuts in a donut pan. I am going for the real deal.
Stupid diet restrictions!

Oh, it is harsh to have to give up something you enjoyed so much. Perhaps the KK near you will close like ours did and it won't be such a temptation anymore. (Not that I want a business to fail, but maybe just move to a place you don't drive by) :)

Very sad! There are no Krispy Kremes near me, but I know they are good!

Just think how healthier you will be not eating that sugar in them :)

This is just plain sad. I'm a total donut junkie. Really I just like carbs too much for my own good. I've been meaning to try quinoa. For some reason, I've frightened myself away from it more than once. I need to stop being such a weenie! Elle @ Erratic Project Junkie

I do love donuts and last month on my birthday one of my sisters gave me a box of Krispy Cremes for a gift, cause she knew I would appreciate them. They are a treat on don't splurge on for myself. Sorry they are now a thing of the past for you but we all do what we have to do. Truly we never know just how much we'll miss something until we no longer have it.

Funny, I was just now thinking of having coffee and donuts this morning. :-) Great post. Following you from A-Z!

So sorry you had to give up your donuts. For some reason I have to eat sweet. For real, if I have a little sugar my blood sugar stays down, no sugar, it climbs. Although, I usually just have a cookie or two, I'm pretty sure a Krispy Kreme donut would make it skyrocket. Lucky for me there isn't a Krispy Kreme place close by. :-)

I read a few of your posts, but this one caught my eye because I think maybe I might be at the point where "no more" needs to come before "donuts" for me as well.

I have hesitated to cut anything out of my diet completely. Well, not true. I have no problem whatsoever never ever eating olive loaf or head cheese. There's some psychological piece of deprivation that seems to backfire eventually. Maybe the key then is to put the "no more" in as something positive, something that actually does take care of me, more than deprives me.
