W is for WINE

For the letter W, I'm writing about my favorite wine.

I'll tell you upfront, I've only tried about three wines in my life, so don't confuse me with an expert, but I know what I like.  For someone who doesn't really like alcohol, this is a very nice wine.

It's called Sangue De Guida, which means - are you ready? - Blood of Judas.  Icky name.

A story is told about how, after its creation by Italian monks long ago, the nuns became too enamored with this wine.  To stifle their affection for the drink, the monks named it Blood of Judas, hoping the creepy name would deter them from swilling the stuff.

Fact or Poppycock, who knows, but it's a fun story, isn't it?

This wine is sweet and a bit bubbly.  It's great with an ice cube to keep it very cold.  Half a wine glass of this nectar will take me though a rented movie.  Then I'm ready for bed.

I've just told you everything I know about wine.  Everything.  I even went to a wine tasting once and can't remember a thing about it.   I just can't hold my liquor.

Chocolate?  That's another story.

Thanks for stopping by my blog (several letters ago). Trying to catch up now that we are close to the finish and I can breath! Love your posts. Happily a new follower! I did not realize Google Reader was going away. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like me! I know that I like a few different wines and beyond that, I got nothing. I prefer white wines over red though. Not sure why! Maybe I should try a red wine again and see. I like super sweet, bubbly ones. Maybe the one you have here would be one to try!

Thanks for the recommendation. :)
Take care,

That was a great story! You made it fun! Sounds delicious. I'd try it but liguor isn't on my taste list due to high blood pressure.

Really enjoyed the history lesson!

I love simple stories where I can relate. I am not a wine fan but might check this one out.

I love wine too! And I am not all that knowledgeable either. I just drink what I like and dump it if I don't. I have learned that 'more expensive' doesn't make it better necessarily.

My wine-ing days were spent as a teen drinking -- not enjoying the wine itself.

I know about chocolate too.

I'm going to leave this one to you Mare! Sweet and bubbly = a migraine for me, but the movie and some chocolate will do just fine :)

That was fun to read! I don't know much about wine either and I can't drink reds because they give me migraines. So I stick with Pinot Grigio or Chenin Blanc. Chardonnays are a big dry for me. And that's all I know too! 1/2 glass makes me tipsy. My boyfriend says I'm a cheap date :-)
